It's quite a bit different, Pete, and, if you wanted to construct a continuum, partial birth abortion is way up at the top of the list and the harvesting of stem cells from embryos and blastocysts (not fetuses) would be at the bottom. Harvesting organs from already aborted fetuses isn't even on that continuum since it's not a form of abortion.
Of course, I recognize that to some people all of the various procedures constitute distinctions without a difference. To them all abortion, no matter how or when it's done, amounts to murder. I'm just not one of those people.
Personally, I find the idea of harvesting aborted fetuses for parts to be grotesque but I recognize that, as unsavory as it is, there are potential benefits to mankind that can result from it. On the other hand, as long as abortion is legal, the existence of fetal remains will be a reality. What possible benefit to the species can be derived from incinerating them as "medical waste"?
Of course, this is all moot since it's illegal and has been since before this "scandal" surfaced in 1999.
