Pilgrim Family of Alaska.

But, I'm reading a book about the Pilgrim family of Alaska and I was wondering if our resident Alaskan could shed any light on the attitude of the locals toward this family. Is there an element of respect or do locals think this family was a bunch of nuts

I don't recall any local attitude one way or the other. I assume most people accepted it as it was presented by the media.
I'm sure there were some remote land/claim owners who cheered as he bulldozed his illegal road across park land, but many more who were appalled.
