Comes the dawn. When Zero keeps telling us with assurance how voters think and how they are going to react, he means people like these:

But, 44% of blacks polled favored leaving the statues alone compared to 40% in favor of removing them. And, 62% overall favored leaving them alone.

It is not a wining political strategy to stir this up, which the protestors were sent in to do by somebody. It's not like they woke up that morning and said I'm bored, let's go fight with some lunatics.

I truly mean that, actually. As I've noted before, I draw a distinction between ideology, and actual relations with real people. I've seen people start to react ideologically in a human interaction, then catch themselves and act decent.

I suspect there's a spectrum, of course--some are very totally governed by ideology, then it ranges across to people who'd never dream of being mean to anyone, even if they 'intellectually' hold very critical opinions of them.
