Carson, a retired neurosurgeon who has been near the top of opinion polls for the crowded field of Republican candidates, said he thought a U.S. president's faith should be "consistent with the Constitution."

Asked if he thought Islam met this bar, Carson said: "No, I do not."

What I do know is that none of these seventeen candidates are qualified to be President regardless of their religious persuasion. Very simply put, they are way too extreme and xenophobic and I would rather we elect someone that did not belong to a religion. Religion is the enemy of mankind.

Dr. Carson may be a "Christian nation" dominionist.
Time was, Catholic candidates were dismissed for having foreign allegiance, as well as not being "true" Christians.

But he said that he has no reason to believe that President Obama is a Muslim or that he wasn't born in the US. That should piss Trump off.

He also said that Congress was a different matter. We can have Muslims there..... as long as they're the "right kind" of Muslim.

I doubt anyone but a radical wants a Salafist in US politics.
Otoh, we have far too many Christian fundamentalists in politics.
