Americans Are STOOPID!

I was watching C-SPAN a while ago. They were conducting a call-in so that people could say who they were voting for and why.

You just wouldn't believe the level of intelligence and degree of knowledge these people exhibited. Truly depressing.... and these were C-SPAN viewers, presumably more engaged and more informed than the average voter. My God, what a pathetic bunch of ignoramuses we are!

I should add that it was pretty even on both sides. Neither Obama supporters nor Romney supporters seemed to have a clue. Odd because it's not that way here. Usually it's the righties that are out to lunch.

This is why we have the electoral college. Our forefathers knew the average person was a dolt.

They figured the average person would never make it to college?

I don't recall the Federalist Paper that addresses dolts.

Too bad CSPAN doesn't use a 900 exchange. Any idiot with a phone can call in to an 800 exchange and prove your point, John.

Remember, there was no instant news coverage in the late 1700's like we have today. Most average citizens never even saw or heard any of the candidates they voted for. Also remember only white male landowners could vote. They were more uninformed than dolts. The Founding Fathers were afraid that the uninformed voters could easily be conned into voting for a lying shyster for President. Some things never change. We still have dolts voting for President.

The other reason the Electoral College was created was to give smaller states somewhat equal power in deciding Presidential elections.
