Not my clown car but there was a lady named Cheney who has more cojones than anyone else on the right.
That said, they ought to give it to Boo Boo Boebert.

So Jordan had enough support in his conference to gain the nomination for speaker but...
Quote:
The House GOP conference selected Jordan on Friday as its latest speaker-designee in a 124-81 vote over GOP Rep. Austin Scott of Georgia – who made a surprise last-minute bid. Jordan gained only 25 supporters compared to Wednesday’s vote when Scalise defeated Jordan, 113-99.
Jordan then called a second vote asking members if they would support him on the floor, in an effort to see if that could shrink his opposition. That vote, which was cast by secret ballot, was 152-55... - CNN 10/13/23

There are 212 Democrats in the US House. If 5 Republicans don't vote for Jordan he will lose in a floor vote for speaker. And there are 55 Republicans who may be fine with Trump being their nominee, but who don't want an asshole like Jim Jordan to be their speaker.

The Repub speaker selection has come down to political differences within their own party and not easily solved. MAGA aligned members of course would love to have Gym be the speaker and they will spend rest of the term running interference for Trump while passing bills that will not be passed by the Senate or Biden. Intent here is to blame the Democrats and point fingers at them as the problem. But this will hurt their moderate members and all it takes is a handful of them saying no to block Gym.
If they get desperate, I still believe they will nominate Trump to score points with their base rather reach across the aisle because that could be a career ending move for a lot of them. But if five moderates can say FU to their colleagues and vote with the Dems, the problem would be solved in minutes. Oklahoma Rep. Kevin Hern seems to be a possibility and he is now being mentioned as a compromise candidate.

The House of Representatives is completely unable to function because of the dysfunction of the Republican Party and the accumulation of a critical mass of weirdos, demagogues, conspiracy nuts and extremists who have paralyzed it. The simple truth is that the Republican conference as a group of 222 may be the most dysfunctional and disordered community of that size not counting people incarcerated in prisons or asylums.

If those five Repubs simply don't show up to vote that could be Jeffries path to the seat. It wouldn't be ideal given the GQP's dedication to tanking out government but it could stifle their efforts.

There are two types of House Republicans. Those that are ultra MAGA like Jimbo & Bimbo and those who fear MAGA as a threat to their careers. Currently there is a deadlock and its a matter of who blinks first. There are reports from yesterday that only about 10-20 Republican members are opposed to Gym for speaker and that low number is not very reassuring. And now we have Hannity from Faux campaigning for Gym. Its sickening.

In other words, the extremists are in control.

Last count as of yesterday...55 House Republicans openly refused to support Jordan for speaker and the count was even higher than that in the secret ballot vote put up by Jordan. If only five of these Republicans vote no in the open vote for speaker, and all 212 Democrats vote against Jordan, he will lose. Word out this morning is that Jordan's people are all over Republican house members like flies on shit spewing fear of the next years primaries in their colleagues.
