I always liked the guy.
While I certainly didn't agree with him on every issue, he was as a rule candid, and open for a discussion...even when he was in office.
As far as that goes, IMHO he is one of the few from the hill who is willing to address an issue from a more cerebral view as opposed to partisan politics.
I have a great admiration for honesty, for without it, the premise of any argument becomes fallacious by nature.
Besides, he is making a valid point with his above statement.
