Baseball

Thought I'd start a baseball thread since the post season is looming on the horizon and what better way to start it is to congratulate Finn for his Nats clinching the NL East. First time the Nats have been in the preseason since they came to DC from Montreal.

It also looks like San Francisco, Oakland (my two local teams) and Baltimore (my true home team) will also make it into the post season so I won't know who the hell to root for!

Looks like Detroit has a shot too if they can catch Chicago but the wild card is probably out of reach. Baltimore and Oakland are pretty far ahead on points.

Your situation reminds me of my first year of law school. The playoffs started when I was just a few weeks in - still at the point where we were all convinced that we were bound to fail if we didn't study 20 hours a day. So my favorite team from each league was in the playoffs, and they ended up facing each other in the World Series - The Cardinals and the Royals. I wanted to absorb every inning, but the way it ended, I was lucky to be distracted. While I liked the royals, the Cardinals are the team I had been rooting for my whole life. Don Denkinger will forever live in infamy in Cardinal lore.

I don't know much about professional baseball, but I do recall a rather heated little league game where my twin boys were on teams that played each other and husband was an umpire.

I no longer follow baseball since I found out that so many of the big boys breaking records were juiced up.
Recently while surfing the AM radio I heard someone discussing Jeter. I always like Jeter so I pause to hear.
Oh WTF........he might be juiced since his performance is out shining his age. I shifted the dial. Damn McGwire,
Bond and Sossa Inc.

I think I'm going to stop listening to music because some of the best players were on drugs.

Major league Baseball, Pro Basketball, Pro Football, they're all the same. A bunch of thugs making way too much money that they spend on illicit activities that contribute little or no good to the betterment of society at large!

There! How about that as a broad, sweeping statement that nearly everyone can get pissed off at.

(Not to mention NASCAR!)
