Here in the Swamp the natives have a metaphor, "He's showin' his ass.".
It means that a person can only hide their true self for so long, then one day they open their mouth and what they're really all about comes out like a big stinking fart. Some of us realized what an asshole Rush is years ago, others are a little slow to catch on. But, they will.
