Don’t Take Financial Advice From Ron DeSantis

ESG investing is as old as capitalism.

Whell's World, of course, hates moral investing. Morons.

Feel free to remain as ignorant as a doorknob. One does not have to be a leftist to appreciate some of the benefits of "moral" investing. ESG is one flavor of "moral" investing, but it's not the only flavor out there.

One flavor of moral investing is to leverage vehicles like Ave Maria Mutual Funds. This investment company as been around longer than the term "ESG" has. I suspect you'd absolutely hate them, though. They take a "faith-based" approach to investing, investing only in companies that reflect their beliefs.

At least they're honest about the limitations of this approach to investing. From their website:

Schwartz Investment Counsel, Inc., a registered investment adviser established in 1980, serves as investment adviser for Ave Maria Mutual Funds. The Adviser invests in securities only if they meet the Funds’ investment and religious requirements, and as such, the returns may be lower or higher than if the Adviser made decisions based solely on investment considerations.

ESG investing has the same limitations: it narrows the field of investment options. I just don't often hear from ESG investing proponents about this limitation. For example, I didn't see it mentioned in your Politico article.
