It works!
Missing some dumb lateral tone arm weight probably costs $50 on the bay.

Quality parts indeed. I had the 1700 receiver, C26 pre and MC240 tube. I sold them all but regret selling the MC240. I had become a hoarder... also many Sansuis, quality Sonys and tube amplifiers.

I downsized. Now I have only, Sony 6060F (great receiver), the neat little Sansui 800 receiver and a silver faced Yamaha HTR.

The MC240 is still bugging me and I intend to satisfy the urge.

However I am on my guard against equipment addiction.
Still, McIntosh deals should be hard to resist.

BTW congratulation Rajoo!

It counterbalances the lateral offset mass of the head plus cartridge. Having the turntable perfectly level should be adequate without.

I had one in nice condition...got it for $60 and had the right channel fixed.
I gave it away about three years ago. Just not into the format no more.
Still have an Akai GX-630d and Pioneer 701 gathering dust. I thought the 635D was a pain in the butt to thread. Yours looks nice like mine did. If you got it in SW Riverside county it might have been mine lol but I kept the NABs.

Great find and seems in excellent shape. My brother had an Akai from that era and he used it for years. Is that a Luxman next to it?
