Ford ready to go.

"The Michigan-based automaker said Thursday it's on the brink of "the fastest and most aggressive manufacturing expansion the company has undergone in 50 years." It plans to add 5,000 new jobs in the U.S. next year, including 3,300 salaried positions.

The company also plans to open new factories in Brazil and China, and will introduce 23 new vehicles globally.

......."

BEWARE!

Sometimes the folks in the boardroom take on an "If you build it, they will come." mentality that gets them into deep trouble. I saw this when I worked at Federal-Mogul. Rapid expansion funded with heavy debt and built on the assumption that better times lie ahead can be a colossal disaster. Building more factories does nothing to ensure that you will have the sales volume to support them.

That being said, it would be wonderful to see the American automotive industry rise again. I hope it goes well.
