Although many here will call me a broken record, I think American business interests have been confused with American national interests. The power that money has over our political system and many other parts of our governance is frightening. If I had to choose one thing that would be most helpful in that regard, I would suggest a Constitutional Amendment denying corporations the status of persons. So many laws, and in particular Constitutional provisions, which were intended to protect individuals have instead been corrupted to protect corporate interests. I think one could hear the warning about that situation in Ike's address, at least with respect to the industrial military complex.

As an aside, I wonder how one championing many of the principles set forth in Ike's address would fare in today's Republican Tea Party.

I disagree.

The political parties don't have that much class.

They're more akin to All Star Wrasslin.

But it does make for great theater whenever they take turns bashing one another in the head with folding chairs.

Local NPR station was talking about Bachmann's
claim of HPV vaccine causing mental retardation.
Someone offered $10,000.00 for documentation
to prove this is true.
Commentator made a good point saying
if this were a vaccine for another type of cancer causing
virus, there would be no problem.
Because it is a sexually transmitted virus
the Right makes it a political issue.
I would think that anyone named Michele
would want to support such a vaccine.

60 + hours a week or more was the norm in my line of work for years.
