Hi Jack, If congress can find the will and really does it without buying back all of the "assault" weapons already out there, it won't make a lot of difference.
I'm with the president on providing the school districts the funds they need to hire armed guards, they've been a fixture in most of the inner city schools for many years already. I wouldn't have an objection to putting in metal detectors either. It's a shame that we've come to this but we've got to make an effort at protecting our citizens from crazy murderers. I guess shopping malls and theaters are next.

I'm still waiting for the detailed description from anyone on how the armed guard at Columbine stopped what happened there...or was that just a "one off"?

I do not think the GOP is going to give Christie the nomination. He runs as an independent or becomes a Democrat. Is Christie the last hope of the moderates in the GOP? Or does he become the coup de grace that destroys the Republican Party at the national level...

Paranoid schizophrenics and sociopaths are not deterred by armed guards or the death penalty in case you haven't noticed. It is the same principle as the Al-Quaeda terrorist who wears a vest of explosives ...if they do not care about their own life you cannot really stop them from harming others.

Excellent article in the latest TIME regarding armed guards and their training - or lack thereof. Any one recall that shoot out in NYC where the trained police managed to wound several innocent bystanders. Think about any police action you read about in the papers - it is obvious the cops are not buying their own ammunition.
