This is no time to be cutting anything, money will hardly ever be as cheap as it is now, looked at the interesst rate on government bonds lately?

We should be repairing our infrastructure, there are bridges badly in need of repair or replacement, roads needing repair.

All of this would put people back to work, earning money and paying taxes. We would save what we are spending on unemployment insurance. People would feel better being productive, just maybe the population would stop being so damned mean to each other. Been grocerey shopping lately?

Quite apart from all of that show me where in the Constitution it calls for a debt ceiling/

His position in the press conference yesterday is that he does not need to do anything unilaterally. Congress has the responsibility to assure that we pay our bills, and it is up to them to pass the legislation necessary for that to happen (i.e. raise the debt ceiling). He will not negotiate over that necessity.

There is still a legitimate basis to negotiate over spending. The sequester is still sitting there, and there will be automatic cuts if action is not taken. That is the place to work to decide spending priorities.

Regards,

D-Ray
