Trump of course is calling this "election interference" and whining about a "witch hunt/persecution" again...when in fact for perhaps the first time in his life, Donald J. Trump is being treated just like everybody else. If Trump was somebody else who isnt Donald Trump he would have gone to jail a long time ago.

As Robert Reich so accurately points out, what actually matters in this country is how Americans behave when they walk up to their little voting station. What this indictment is going to do is rally the 46% of Americans who twice voted (and who will vote that way again next year, regardless of the Repubican candidate) for one thing only...what's in it for them. It may be financial benefits, it may be religious zealotry, it may be hate for the other, their bigotry, racism and xenophobia...it doesn't matter what combination.

What matters is that the decisions made on the ballots of the 46%'er's come out of everything that is wrong with human nature.

Reich seems to think that the first indictment should have been the "seditious conspiracy" charge related to the Jan 6th riot. I don't think it would matter much. Nothing is going to change our fellow Americans on the other side of this culture war. That they will support what they choose to support makes them awful people, they can be kind to animals and commit other decent acts and still be terrible humans. The beasts the the bugs are more noble than we are.

Animals are not noble by human definition. Very few of them have any altruistic capabilities. Conversely, very few of them go out of their way to needlessly make any other living being suffer. Animals are the closest thing to being morally neutral as you can get. On the other hand humans are a perfectly horrible mix of our innate biological desires/instincts that animals possess coupled with a bit of intelligence. We have just enough intelligence as a species to know we are better then animals in terms of capabilities; yet we are too stupid to realize how horrible of a species we are even when judged by our own moral standards. So animals are not noble by any standard. However, when judged from the moral standard of "causing an untold amount of mass suffering, torture, destruction and pain" for reasons that do not involve the survival of their own species; animals are leagues above humans. Its not even a fair comparison because we are the worst in that category by a wide margin. - griffon652
