Here we go again with the war on contraceptives

http://www.washingtonpost.com/politi...y.html?hpid=z3

Good ol' Hobby Lobby gets their day in court fast tracked.
I see another self inflicted wound from the wingnut circular firing squad comin' down the pike.

H.L.Mencken got it right "The church will let a woman use mathematics for birth control but not physics or chemistry."

All I can do is refuse to frequent Hobby Lobby, Papa John's Pizza, and Chick-fil-A. In the case of the last two my intestinal tract is forever grateful.

You will need to add Penn State University to that lot. And here I thought universities were there to teach people how to think, not what to think.

What a complete load of crap. Wtf right does any employer have even think about what their staff may do in their bedrooms, let alone try to mandate it?

If it costs the cheap bastards $.50 a month, they have every right to demand their employees abstain from protected intercourse and, heaven forbid-----abortion. Of course if all these unwanted pregnancies somehow cause their premiums to rise, they'll just simply have to cut all of those damned promiscuous breeders off. "We're running a business here, not a nonprofit nursery!".

Man, oh man the future is looking brighter every day, I tell ya.

Erik I know SinglePayer does not cover drugs but it does control the prices yet I don't recall any outcry about contraception when it went into force.

So what is next? Religions that don't believe in Medical care but in prayers alone get out of the ACA too?

The fact is that all along...all during the long history of for-profit, employer linked, insurance industry healthcare in this country, Americans have been members of the plethora of insurance groups that pay for contraceptives, and abortions, and morning after pill treatment, and all sorts of stuff that they are ideologically or religiously opposed to. And not as much as a peep out of anybody right up until it was part of the ACA, and then it's an outrage. All these deluded pious religious headcases have been subsidizing insurance company paid abortions for 4 decades. So it's just more "government bad/business good" ideology and politics.

The pious Christians need to be careful though. If these restrictions go through, one day soon we're going to have some Catholic, or some evangelical Christian working for a company owned by some nutcase Christian Scientist...their kid will need a blood transfusion to save it's life, and either they'll pay for it out of pocket or their kid will be dead. Watch for the outrage then.

And it will be just desserts for everybody but the kid. Then again, it's the children always getting the short end of the stick in this culture, so perhaps that's nothing particularly new.
