No matter how hard you squint, the GTI isn't a roadster.
BTW, the newly updated Miata is greatly improved and getting extraordinary reviews from every auto writer out there. Both it and the GTI are on pretty much every publication's Top 10. They're both very good cars, but they aren't comparable. The BMW Z3 is comparable, but no longer made and was considerably more expensive (and certainly not as reliable as the Miata, FWIW).
