Uh, yeah.

It's a familiar strategy to some of us.

Native-centric eyes? Perhaps.

But, also, it highlights the fallacy of land wars in Asia.

Tribalism is impossible to defeat. The only time it ever subsides is when a common goal large enough to motivate beyond it makes itself evident.

In this case, it was "get the Americans out of our country." (sigh)
It's nice to know we do things like that in the name of "freedom" and "spreading Democracy".........

Must be part of those "Christian values" were always hearing about.

When we decided to force our way in and "change" them into a Jeffersonian Democracy, we were acting foolishly, led by the Pied Piper of Putzes.

It was a waste of ten years, a trillion bucks and thousands of lives.

People have to want it badly enough to fight for it themselves. That is the ONLY way freedom endures.

It seems you've forgotten about Colin Powell's Pottery Barn rule. We broke it, but we didn't fix it (as it was too broken to be fixed IMO).

If we were to wait for it to be a Jeffersonian democracy, we could be there for a couple of centuries.

The only way anyone can possibly change the middle east is if the Sunnis and Shia settle their fued. Given they have been at it for 7 centuries I am not holding my breath.
