I completely agree with Bernie's position. Gun manufacturers shouldn't be held liable for the actions of their customers. The problem is with the laws. I'd rather see the Sandy Hook parents sue Congress for failing to pass effective legislation that would have kept guns out of the hands of the shooter and his whack job mother.

If only that were possible.

If there is liability, it's the same sort as with the tobacco industry mass producing and distributing a hazardous product. The difference is no pretense of inherent harmlessness.
The potential for tragedy lies in our culture and attitudes, coupled with after-the-fact remediation without do-overs.
