"Two N.Y.P.D. Officers Are Killed in Brooklyn Ambush; Suspect Commits Suicide" NYT

http://www.nytimes.com/2014/12/21/ny...=top-news&_r=0

Sick f**k executes two NYPD officers while they were sitting in their patrol car, then offs himself when the police close in.

My heart goes out to their families and friends.

The first two words of your post say it all.

May God bless the families and friends.

Let's see. The logic put forward in this thread was that Sarah Palin and Fox News were directly responsible for the Gabby Giffords shooting.

So, should attribute the NY cops shooting to Al Sharpton and MSNBC?

You'd politicize an otherwise enjoyable wet dream.

People kill those they hold as enemies.

This was clearly a dangerously ill person, I know nothing of his history, but I know that in general we care for such illness very poorly.

I am of course sad for all affected by this tragedy, which is all of us.

There's always got to be some asshat(s) that will come along and cast a pall over an otherwise worthy cause. I am saddened and dismayed at the deaths of these two officers and sympathize with the families who have suffered a terrible loss at a time that is supposed to be filled with joy and togetherness.

However, I still maintain that police brutality and the rise of militarized law enforcement need to be protested and peacefully opposed.

So, has the right wing noise machine begun politicizing this tragedy?

Dave

I'm sure you'll be posting the same shortly about those who raced to politicize the Giffords shooting...but I won't hold my breath waiting.

I have no idea. I did recall a very specific post in this forum however, and I'm wondering if certain individuals in this forum will be prepared to treat two somewhat similar scenarios in the same manner.

And I offer this as one of the many reasons why it is necessary to equip qualified law enforcement with overwhelming force.

The only kind of 'overwhelming force' that would prevent ambushes like this is remaining in fully-armored vehicles, that sortie from bases with defended perimeters.

Overwhelming force is the wrong answer.
