".....liquored up..."? Now, you're accusing us of being a bunch of drunks? I can only recall one time that I was posting under the influence, and I was WAY under the influence.

What you guys need is to have Paul Martin come and do for your economy what he did for the Canadian economy back when it was being threatened with a downgrade of our nations credit rating.

It wasn't painless but it worked and is one of the only reasons the Canadian economy is doing so good today, that and stricter regulations on our banks.

Cheers

Lar

With all the nattering about the shame of defaulting on our debts it seems they are only concerned about defaulting to foreigners, defaulting on our debt to seniors is perfectly OK.

couple of questions for you folks. These are probably a can of worms tho.

When did (or has it always been this way) the governement entangle itself with the economy? I thought the framers tried to set the government apart from the economy or free market. This is way out of my scope so my question may be foolish, but I would like to hear your thoughts.

I personally think the government should be enitrely seperate from the economy. They should not carry ANY debt, nor should they have a deficit.

The only exception would be a time of war and strictly for defense.

So, thoughts?

So the roads and bridges and railroads will build themselves. Police forces and firefighters will simply pop out of thin air?

With the exception of rails and interstate highways those are state issues.

I've gotta say though, I think you lefties are rubbing off on me THe feds do have the right to regulate interstate commerce. I think we need a national discussion on what exactly that means, instead of leaving the fox in charge of the henhouse.
