The thing I find most interesting is how we (I) regarded the Fonda and Hopper characters as heroes and were outraged by their death at the hands of a couple of Florida rednecks. I mean, sure, the rednecks were despicable, as were the ones who killed the Nicholson character earlier in the film but heroes? Shit, they were just a couple of drug mules. That didn't seem to bother us back them.
