They are by their very nature fearful of change and diversity.

Therefore they march together in lockstep like lemmings.

All you have to do is look at the congressional voting record of Republicans.

They block vote together on practically all significant issues.

And they practically excommunicate any of their members that dare to waver from the strict party line.

Being A Republican is a lot like being a member of the Mafia.

You seldom see that among Democrats.

It's the liberal side that has the big tent.

You will find more diversity among 10 liberals than you will among 1,000 conservatives.
I don't think so.

The only problem with that is that Repulicans are not really conservatives. They are so far to the right that they make Ghenghis Khan look like a soci@list.

As a former member of the Conservative Party in Canada under Joe Clark I believe that I know what a conservative is.

That's true.

I consider myself to be a conservative.

But I grew up when Eisenhower was President.

Back then weren't batshit crazy.

I even voted Republican in every Presidential Election from 1968-1988.

It was when Rush Limbaugh and his ilk came on the scene that I couldn't take it any more.

But I even went back for a short time in 2000 and supported McCain.

McCain in 2000 represented the last chance for the Republican Party to redeem itself. I supported his campaign, contributed to it, and I still have a McCain 2000 T-shirt in my closet.

But the South Carolina Primary did it for me.

That was were the nasty racist right wing really showed it's ass and I decided I was done with them for good.

It takes a real asshole to throw a bag of popcorn at a grouchy old man.

But it takes a frickin psychopath to shoot someone for throwing a bag of popcorn at you.

I guess the life lesson to take away from this is "Don't bring a bag of popcorn to a gun fight."

I do.

Remember the pan shots of the RNC vs. DNC in 2008 & 2012?

I thought that was just about the best illustration possible.

Sounds about right.

When I left the plant on Friday morning, the rightwingers in the locker room were wishing each other a "Happy James Earl Ray Day" once again.

You know, racism, like a particularly nasty fart is hard to contain once it's bubbled up inside you. You can't hold it forever and if you let it fly in a crowd, everyone's going to know what it is despite your best attempts at denial.

They're getting into their own brand of political correctness now, too.

Last night Amy Holmes was having a fit because Obama said he didn't think marijuana was "any worse than alcohol". She kept saying that was "inappropriate speech" because "many parents disagree with it". The man wasn't suggesting any legislation, he was simply asked for his opinion.

What? He, (Or we.) can't say anything that runs contrary to current conservative "values", because it upsets them?

I overhear racists jokes a lot around here too.

I'm a big ole white dude and I dress down most of the time, plus I have one of goat tees like all the rednecks have these days.

So I guess when they look around and see me they think "He's one of us".

Come on up to the home of the Dem machine and see reality. Not some hack news piece or talking point list or policy platform either, but hard time.
