Had a lucky discovery today. Came across a collection of music by a collective called "Playing for Change." https://www.youtube.com/results?sear...ing+for+change It collects covers of great songs including, within each song, contributions from around the world. I have been in awe.
That is where my entire afternoon went. Good thing I have the treadmill here in the den, or it would have been a complete veg day.
Regards,
D-Ray

I'll be listening to lots of John Prine today. I have his S/T, Sweet Revenge, Bruised Orange and The Missing Years albums all ready for rotation today.

I vaguely remember listening to Prine way back when, he was played on the "underground" FM station in my teens. I particularly remember a lyric about Muhlenberg County, mostly because that's where the great Merle Travis was born and raised (also the Everly Brothers).
I see he was associated with Iris DeMent, who has written and sung some very fine songs. I'll have to research their music together.

The song you're referring to is Paradise and it's awesome like every song on his first album. If you don't know his first album by heart, today's a good day to starting listening to it to the point you have every word memorized. It's well worth it and timeless. It's on a par with Dylan's best IMO (and Dylan's best still remains my favorite music).
His parents moved from Muhlenberg County to suburban Chicago. His father played guitar in Kentucky with the Everly Brothers' father.
