So, am I right in my belief that the ONLY significant bill passed so far by both houses of the current congress is the veto-proof handcuffs they just put on our Putin-loving idiot-in-chief? A fine start.

How the Russian kleptocracy operates.

http://www.esquire.com/news-politics...tin-oligarchs/

Just how deep their tentacles reached inside the Trump campaign remains to be seen; all the way to the top? Trump's behavior towards Putin sure makes it look that way. Browder needed two big bodyguards as insurance he would make it to testify. He's a marked man.

Another horrible article.

Putin did a great job in recovering a significant strategic asset - Yukos - which was acquired by Mikhail Khodorkovsky in a rigged system.

The dismantling of Khodorkovsky was a huge blow to western efforts to get control of important sectors of the Russian economy.

One does not need RT to secure an understanding of what took place in Russia re the privatization of state assets in the Yeltsin years.

This Op-Ed piece is well worth reading to understand the strategy behind the Russian interference of the 2016 elections.

The Russians Were Involved. But It Wasn’t About Collusion.

Quote:
The most effective method to combat Russia’s intrusions into our political process is to be clear, transparent and honest with ourselves about how the Kremlin operates and what it hopes to achieve. The Trump campaign did not need to collude with the Kremlin for Russia’s cyber and covert influence campaign to be considered a serious breach of our electoral process, and hence our national security. The Trump administration and both parties in Congress need to speak with one voice against Russia’s attack on our democratic institutions. If they do not, Mr. Putin will have won.

Trump signs the new Sanctions bill on Russia, N. Korea and Iran. Of course this is about Russia and the other two countries are just for window dressing. Even after signing the bill, our Chieftain could not resist the opportunity to brag about his talents, which in governance is zero to none.
Quote:
"I built a truly great company worth many billions of dollars," Trump said. "That is a big part of the reason I was elected.

"As President, I can make far better deals with foreign countries than Congress," he added.
What he really means that "I can make far better deals with foreign countries if there is money in it for me". Guy cannot even put together a functioning cabinet and brags about his management credentials. Let's see how long Gen. Kelley will put up with the WH run by a family of grifters.

I'd expect the same reaction from the 'Pubs as with Sessions if he moved to fire Kelly, I suspect they are past having it with Trump's govt circus act.

Jennifer Rubin again. A reminder to the few here still stupid enough to defend this indefensible administration, she's a conservative.

Quote:
The notion that money to combat Russian espionage and subversion of Western democracies should not be spent merely underscores the sickening suspicion that Trump puts Russian interests above America’s.
Quote:
The combination of unfilled political slots, insular leadership, failure to defend the department’s budget, and a fundamental misunderstanding of the role of democracy and values in our foreign relations have made this the worst-run and least-effective State Department in recent memory — yes, worse than the Obama years, my conservative friends.
