No, Trump painted them (and the players) into a corner to serve his own ends. He had no business opening his fat yap on this issue in Alabama other than to deliberately stir up shit to distract from his myriad legislative failures and Mueller's investigation and you bought into it.

You get your knickers in a twist when a football player "disrespects" an inanimate piece of cloth that represents American ideals (including freedom of speech and thought), while you accept Trump openly mocking John McCain and a Gold Star family who sacrificed dearly for those ideals (unlike the Draft Dodger-in-Chief). Your values are all fucked up.

Now, your Toddler-in-Chief is golfing and tweeting insults at Puerto Rico while 3.5 million Americans there suffer. Face it Whell, you're hero is a complete asshole who is unfit for the presidency. If you want to see what a real American leader acts like, take a look at this link and consider for a moment whether your Blowhard-in-Chief could muster the patriotism and dignity to do what this general did (BTW, he attributed the racist students' behavior, in part, to the racial tension being stoked by the NeoNazi Sympathizer-in-Chief).

I can't decide whether whell or Trump takes the award for cluelessness, lack of human caring, and unqualified to be human. Tough choice. Both repulsive.

One is a con and the other is the con's mark.

Has to be your dopiest comment ever. Trump had nothing to do with the players choosing to take a knee during the anthem. Trump had nothing to do with more and more players choosing to take a knee, sit, raise their fists, or stay in the locker room. The owners let their players make political statements on the field. Some owners then dug a deeper hole by joining their players.

Fact is, most fans see the actions of the players as disrespectful. For the owners to join them exacerbates the situation. If this continues, more and more fans will be alienated, and Trump will have had nothing to do with it. If the NFL had done what the NBA is doing - getting ahead of this - we wouldn't even be having this discussion

Trump had nothing to do with the NFL and the owners mishandling this whole thing.

WTF??? Trump has everything to do with it. Kaepernick is out of the league and pretty much the only guy left kneeling was Michael Bennett in Seattle (with the team's blessing). It had pretty much run its course. Then yer boy opens his fat yap in Huntsville. He pretty much said "You boys, do as I say or I, the president, will pressure your owners to fire you." He left them no choice but to respond and he (and you) are not in a position to tell them how they choose to voice their disapproval with this this race-baiting threat. They are the patriots here, not you or Trump.

I'll stop you right there because, A) you're getting so worked up that you might injure yourself, and B) because you're wrong, as usual. Try this:

http://www.espn.com/blog/nflnation/p...them-in-week-1

All of the above was going on before Trump opened his "fat yap".

Ah, the excuse you use for your own failure to engage in meaningful discourse. How convenient.
