Amen.
My parents used to hang out at the Ice House in L.A. and mom loves Nina.
Funny story, mom and a girlfriend of hers set off from the San Fernando Valley on the Red Car all the way down to Newport Beach to see Nat King Cole play at the Rendezvouz Ballroom. Mom was quite the hottie, green eyes and dark brown hair. She walked up to Nat's grand piano and leaned over to request a tune and stayed there at the end of the piano twinkling those green eyes at him. Several of the local white swells aka Balboa Cats tried to pry her away to dance with them but she was having none of it. She was there for the music.
I'm sure Nat was wondering if he was going to get lynched when he finished his set. This was back in 1943 when mom was just 17.
She's still at it 77 years later. Several years ago she saw that Ziggy Marley was playing a small club in Fresno where she lives so she bought a ticket. While waiting for the band to play she was having an Appleton & Coke at the bar and the bartender was tickled that this 89 year old lady was there to see Ziggy. Once she told the bartender that we lived in Kingston, Jamaica for two years back in the '60s the bartender took her backstage to meet the band and also comped her bar tab.
Anyways...
