About $9,500

That's average for much we spent in the USA for health care for every man, woman and child in the USA.

Considering how many people in this country are cannot access health care because of the cost this is amazing.

I'd wager there is more fattening of bank accounts going on with this money than actual health care.

Anyone earning under $25 an hour is completely shut out of our medical system unless someone else is picking up the cost.

Hopefully the combination of the ACA and Medicare will soon morph into single payer for all?
I see very sick people with no access to healthcare on a regular basis at the clinic where I volunteer.

We also need to fix the healthcare system itself. For far too long we have been patting ourselves on the back and saying it's the best healthcare system in the world. Well having recently lost my wife in it I can tell you that is no longer true. Our hospitals are operating in CYA mode.

It's a vicious cycle Rob. First you have the insurance companies taking their estimated 30% cut. Then you have the malpractice insurance to contend with. Then you have the sharks circling around hospitals looking for any and every kind of lawsuit that they can threaten hospitals and doctors. In the end there is very little money to actually provide any healthcare.

Our absurdly ridiculous health care system is a prime example of American Fascism at work. We need a single payer system where the providers are nonprofit corporations. After all, the taxpayer is already paying the majority of our nation's health care bill.

Government funds nearly two-thirds of U.S. health care costs: American Journal of Public Health study http://<br /> http://www.pnhp.org/n...journal-of-pub
