Depending on the car's display, it can be a much better interface when a smartphone is used rather than a flash drive. Locally, I don't actually listen to much music in the car in favor of NPR and sports radio. Road trips is where I do the most music listening, as well as podcasts.

You said a mouth full! Just think of all the items 20 years ago that were either next to nonexistent or unheard of, but are now routinely reaching into your pocket monthly.


From what I see you have to be a magician to install an aftermarket head unit in a new vehicle. Plus they have been loosing the CD player also for years.
