I had posted sometime back that trying to read and understand the SPAC deal to acquire Trump Media which owns Truth social gave me a headache. Basically this sounds like a sucker play to rope in investors whereby Trump got $300 million of the deal. Seems a lot the the background characters were Miami residents with Russian roots and in the end what seems to have happened is that they ran up the stock value from around $25 or so to $175 and then cashed out. Now they are all being investigated. Here is an update and it still gave me a head ache, but now also a stomach ache. Even though multiple agencies are investigating DWAC and its players, Trump is not implicated.

But does prove once again that where there is Trump, there is corruption and fraud. While Trump has not "yet" collected his $300 million, it is safe and sound till this gets resolved. Only reason he has not been paid is that the merger has been blocked by the SEC. So once again, Trump gets paid while everyone else, here the poor investors who drove up the value of the stock until the sellout and SEC blocking are screwed, not that I have any sympathy for them. Trump --> Financial Disaster for investors.

A great article on WaPo to read and weep silently. And in nearly eight years, nothing has changed in the Trump world, especially since he is now the Man and the Party rolled into one.

Purveyors of propaganda, both foreign and domestic, saw an opportunity to spread lies and misinformation. Today, malevolent actors continue to game the platforms, and there’s still no real solution in sight because these powerful platforms are doing exactly what they were designed to do.

A decade ago, what Trump offered American consumers was an ostensible road map to fabulous wealth. His decision to give that up in favor of political power meant that the Trump Organization’s pitch had to change, too. No longer was he trying to present the image of a successful Manhattan business magnate but, instead, of a red-state magnate bent on reversing how America is changing.

His audience changed and so did his products. A Trump consumer is no longer someone looking to eat an elegant steak in an upscale New York hotel while smelling faintly of “Success.” Instead, it’s the sort of person who thinks buying gold shoes sends a signal of defiance to America’s institutions of power.

He is also selling patches from the suit he wore for the Fulton County arraignment mug shot.

And along the way, he has also hijacked the US flag permanently. Who would want to display the American flag in front of their homes or on their vehicles other than to claim membership in MAGA.
