I NEED to see the new Godzilla. The last one sucked. I'm hoping this one makes up for it.

I like the old Japanese Godzilla movies. In fact, there was one on recently. The recent one from the late 1990s sucked IMO. I no longer go out to the movies, thus, I'll have to wait for the latest to hit my video screen.

Do you like 1950s bad sci fi films like The Giant Claw or Plan 9 From Outer Space?

I can't stop laughing everytime I see The Giant Claw:

Here it is chasing a WWII era plane:

The Giant Claw is awesome!

I saw that when I was a little kid in the 50's and it scared the Hell out of me.

Especially the part where the Dude in the parachute got eaten alive.

I had nightmares about it for months.

It came from beneath the sea was another one.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0nmOjIUR9kA

Scared me to death when I was a little kid.

Even years later when I was in high School, I walked out to this point at the north end of Clearwater Beach island to go fishing. I stayed until after dark and then had about a mile and a half walk along a dark deserted beach back to where I had parked my car. It was a dark night, no moon and when I looked out in the direction of the Gulf of Mexico I couldn't see a thing. It was pitch black. Just the sound of the waves lapping. I got to thinking about that movie and before long there I was, 17 years old and scared shitless again.

I LOVE those old movies. The cheesier, the better. I especially love the terrible special effects; Like sparklers sticking out the tailpipes of model jet airplanes, the smoke going straight up. Styrofoam buildings that bounce when knocked over and the like.

When I was a kid I thought all that stuff was real.

I remember being about 6 years old and hearing all this hoopla on the news about a rocket that had been sent up into space and I thought to myself, "What's the big deal? Flash Gordon has already been all over space in rocket ship."
