What I come away with from the film: The folly of royalty.
Church ritual is as good a way as there is to keep stuff the same for generation after generation. That said, the movie people's version of the mid-1700s church is bound to look like what you see in the church now. Because what's in the church now is what they're going to use in the movie....

How about that crown! Royalty may be folly, but they sure knew how to accessorize!

Yeah! And great skill to set that big ruby on top. Jewelers are also artists.

Took my wife to see Theory of Everything. Leave it to hollywood to make a story about a great physicist a chick flick. Excuse my sexism, but it was 90% love story and 10% history.

Regards,

D-Ray

Time to go see 'Selma'. I'll bet it wins the 'Best Picture' Oscar.

Two Days in the Valley, very entertaining and fast paced featuring Charlize Theron.

My wife and I watched Fiddler On the Roof last night. (TCM)

Surprisingly this was the first time for her although I have seen it many times.
She was enjoying it until the final part where the Jews were forced out of their village.
She became sad. Damn! A musical with such a sad ending.

Found some interesting Peruvian movies on Youtube.

Alias La Gringa. A criminal with a knack for escaping from
prison gets involve with political prisoners in the era of the Shining Path (Sendero Luminoso) guerrillas.

Pantaleon y Las Visitadoras: In order to reduce rape by soldiers stationed in far away places the Peruvian army decides to supply them with a select group of prostitutes.

A straitlaced officer, Pantaleon, is put in charge of the program. But how long
can he remain that way?
