Never listen to the BBC world or read Reuters?
Also what happens across or borders will effect us in the U.S.A. greatly. For one what is happening now in Mexico and the effects to our border.

Back to the OP. There's less here than meets the eye. EPA is scheduled to revise the ozone rules in 2013 and what Obama did was curtail an intermittent rule change between now and then to prevent industry from having to adapt twice. It seems like the right thing to have done, but both sides have a need to paint it as something other than what it is.
As for not caring what other country thinks, in this global economy (not to mention the "global war on terror"), America needs friends abroad. We are not an island, per se.

You don't think this is a factual article? Hey, I'm not sure, but these regulation levels seem overboard and scary. http://www.investors.com/NewsAndAnal...-And-Jobs.aspx

As Obama publicly stated that you could build a new coal plant if you wished, only he intended to make it too expensive to run, I smell a big political rat.
And as Churchill pointed out, nations do not have "friends", they have common interests.
I've never had much luck buying "friends". I've had limited luck at hiring a crew, but I've noticed that if I don't write them a paycheck, they don't come to work.
Now if we were to close down the "global war on terror", we could fire 3/4 of our crew. All the bastards are doing is putting in their time anyway.

I'd say you're going to get your wish.
And if you do, it won't be because of anything that they've done, it will be because of what the Obama administration has done.

That's a good thing IMHO (as compared to another rule change between now and then).

Perhaps so (though I'd say Israel and England probably qualify as friends). However, it's tough to get folks to recognize common interests using "with us or against us" cowboy talk.

Hell we have enough internal "enemies" that we don't need to go looking for more. By the time the multi-nationals and Wall Street get through screwing us there will be nowt left.

The article mentions that the air at Yellowstone Park might not qualify under the proposed standards. Perhaps it is because the ozone levels at Yellowstone have been on the rise? While I'm sure that the mention of a national park as failing to meet pollution standards is eye-catching, it is not necessarily a valid illustration of the point the author is making.

D-Ray

Do you mean the one that owes the IRS a billion dollars and wants taxes raised on the wealthy (wealthy being 250k a year, ha)?
I agree about the other countries. Let them all kill each other and be done with it. That's all they have been doing since the beginning of time anyhow. They don't want our help anyway, and when they do (like Kuwait), we don't get so much as a kiss my ass when we save theirs. Anyone know of any documentation of us getting paid back for our efforts (even in oil maybe)? IMHO we left enough American bodies in France to last us at least a few hundred years. I say beef up our missile defense and screw them.
