I had forgotten how good this one was. Sounds even better through my Maggotbox tube monoblocks.
OH my God!

I can't believe someone else spins this!

I love Jerry's guitar on Sketches of China.

First time I ever heard the song I knew it was his sound, I was right.

This one brings back a lot of fond memories. I've been an Airplane 'freak' since Surrealistic Pillow came out. Volunteers sealed it for me! I do have a scratchy copy in vinyl that is unbearable to listen to. So I went on the Bay and found a brand new sealed CD for $7!!!

Sketches of China is playing right now, brother! I love the refrain "It ain't what you want, it's what you need!" I'm reading the liner notes and laughing at how the name was bestowed by David Crosby. I need me some day-glo paint!

I think the best how I ever saw was the starship back in 74, somewhere in Boston????

Peter Kaukonen was on bass. (Jorma's brother)

I lived a bit further south, in Takoma Park, Maryland right outside of D.C. during those crazy years. The Airplane did a free concert on the Mall in '72, IIRC. Sans Grace who was sick that day, so it was more like a twofer. Airplane and Hot Tuna.

I just recued it up!BTW, Peter gets a mention in the liner notes.

Just ordered Bark, Long John Silver and Volunteers on CD. All three for $14 del'd! I hope the band gets something of a royalty out of this.

There's a YouTube of it, I see.

Here's a stream from the Airplanes website. 'Coming Back To Me' just finished. Cool! Playin' thru my 'puter-sound card> Maggie tube amps> JBL L80t3s on either side of my desk.
