I don't think the parallel is quite accurate. Dub got into trouble and got bailed out. He was able to get second and third chances after failed business ventures. Bristol is only riding on the wave of her Mother's celebrity, on a reality show that is in large part a popularity contest. If she wins a popularity contest, it's not like she is getting a plumb military assignment because of her name.
