The Second Amendment is not about guns -- it's about anti-Blackness, a new book argues

It is really getting bad right now. America is at the point where there is no loyal opposition. The morons who were saying life wasn't so bad on the plantation are the ones that are now passing laws to invalidate election outcomes.

It seems like there are some who are mighty afraid of the skeletons in America's closet that CRT might let out.

It's about frightened, racist white folks feeling the need to protect themselves as minorities become...........Well, NOT minorities anymore. I mean, come on.... Everybody here is old enough to remember when Black folks pretty much ran nothing at all in this country. Now, they run businesses, they're judges, mayors, high ranking military officers, police chiefs, they run schools, churches, one has served as president ......They're rising and rising fast. It's a beautiful thing to my mind. But then, I'm not a gun-toting MAGA Q-Anon freak. These Republicans keep bellowing that they "....see what's going on in this country!". I see it too and I LOVE it. It's called ".....freedom and justice for all." and they hate it.

Why do you suppose that is?

Somewhat akin to the "Compromise of 1877", when Southern "Plantation Democrats" helped a corrupt Republican cheat in exchange for the end of Reconstruction. Only now the wealthy, racist Southerners are all Republicans.

The controversy over Vanessa William's singing Lift Every Voice at first seems all media made. It is a song the resonates in a national-anthem like way with some folks? Swell, it's just a song. As far as that goes the 'official national anthem' is just a song. Why are people freaking out trying to police how people feel about songs?

I think I may know. It's the same as the freak-out over 'black lives matter.' I think the real issue there was the out group claiming the *right to say who matters.* It wasn't that anyone ever said 'white lives don't matter.' It's that if they had that power, they *could* say it.

Likewise, if an out-group gets to have a 'sacred song of nationhood' here, then it's not just 'our' nation any more. Share power? Very scary idea. Feels like existential threat!

Used to be one boss group here, now there could be more than one? Divisive for sure. Freak out scary to many who feel the change is a loss of status, of power, of ability to dominate totally, to assure their position cannot be threatened, psychologically, and, in their fears, physically.

i'd bet my last dollar that the ones having a fit over this never read the words to the song in the first place. "Doggone it, their own national anthem. This can't be good ".

OK let see....

Two groups of people and totally different treatment.

Both want their own language religion customs shun technologies and practices the majority of the rest of the country enjoys.

What I wounder is the reason one is left alone to prosper on land stolen from the other, all the while the other subjected to a coordinated effort to conform or else thus attempting to erase their heritage.

Hummm................
