They are similar in that they are both psychos.

The difference is that Tarrentino occasionally shows signs of talent.

Of course that's just my opinion.

The inclusion in the Netflix subscription of full seasons of TV series encourages binge watching. With some series, particularly those that are serials as well as being series, this is a fun way to watch. But binge watching definitely has its drawbacks. I have started watching MI-5. It is generally well acted and written, but watching them without the requisite week or more between episodes makes it more and more difficult to suspend disbelief. Somehow or another, the suggestion that each week brings a new threat of Armageddon, World War III, the destruction of London, or the collapse of democracy - which must be overcome by this team of five or six individuals - tends to numb the senses to any experience of real drama. Think I'll take a break from this one.

Regards,

D-Ray

I would continue watching the series.....it is no less over the top than 24, and the constant change of characters keep it fresh. I really liked it myself.

If you want a really surreal TV experience that sort of harkens back to the weird quirky stuff from the BBC of the 1970s watch the British version of Life On Mars. I have not seen the American version but I have read it is not as good as the British one. It is about a cop who gets teleported from 2009 back to 1973 and the deals with the sort of corrupt police system he has to survive in.

I just wonder where that opinion comes from.

They are both very talented. Stoic is an amazing movee.

It explains how these prisoners committed such horrific acts. It explains the how. Very interesting stuff.

Saw the James Brown biopic recently out of curiosity, also heard a related piece on NPR.
I was one of those who didn't 'get' what he was doing at the time with it, sounding to me like incoherent squawking, barking, and horns honking with rattly jangling guitar lines, all of which just doesn't go anywhere at all.
Tho he still doesn't musically connect with me I now understand what he was doing and his influence on the course of pop and dance music.

Two Net flicks movies:

The Fisher King - good movie - great acting all around. About a radio talk jock who inadvertently prompts a nightclub massacre and the aftermath. Robin Williams is nothing short of brilliant.

Out of the Furnace - Pretty good, I'd give it an 8 of 10. Complicated and dark, set in a dying steel mill town in the Appalachians. Reminiscent of Winters Bone. Stars Woody Harrelson and Christain Bale.

I'd recommend both.

Madmen Season Six

this is so successful because it gets the late 60s and early 70s down so remarkably on the screen. I keep expecting to see a Whammo superball and Philco color tv to show up.

In the first episode of season six there is a speaker in Don's fancy NYC apartment....I think it is a KLH Model 6 or an Old Large Advent.

whammo made the superball right? lol

I remember watching that as a kid. Probably on channel 5 or 20 out of DC.
