Native Californian here Rod but as a cousin several times removed, I'm pretty friggin' happy to see Harper get tarred & feathered.

Welcome to PC, btw.

A Maryland transplant to California here but one who has spent a great deal of time in Canada over the years. I love the place!

I'm also old enough to remember Pierre Elliott Trudeau fondly.... and Margaret too.

Pm elect Trudeau on his first day actually held a press conference and took open questions from reporters...this would seem a small thing, but was so refreshing!talking directly to reporters is something that Harper has simply refused to do for over 7 years!JT is off to a good start.

he's made a lot of promises and hopefully will be able to keep them, but this simple expected duty is quite symbolic..it is real change on the first day!it's been so long since I've seen the press room at parliament,i had totally forgotten what it looked like, and it looks to need a reno lol

subject matter was predictable, when will you do this or that, who have you spoken with etc...seems he and US pres Obama had a friendly chat, both purposely avoiding any sticky issues,JT seemed to think they liked each other well enough,Obama giving him some personal advice on family/work balance etc,Obama is the outgoing pres of course but i think both countries can have hopes for more constructive relations in the mean time
