I want my $876!

And I want it now!

Actually I think this is a good idea and I would support it.

To fight poverty and boost its own economy, Finland is planning to issue a check for $876 to every citizen, every month. The concept is called basic income, and the Finnish government is getting closer to finalizing its implementation this month.

The Finnish Social Insurance Institution (KELA) is drafting the plan to pay every one of its 5.4 million people $876 per month, tax-free, which would replace social support programs, such as welfare and unemployment benefits. Though a proposal from KELA isn’t expected until November 2016, a pilot stage is currently planned prior to full implementation of the program.

The Swiss are trying to do the same thing. The figure there is about $30,000.00 per year, not as a check but as a guaranteed minimum income.

This happens in relatively rich countries which are steeped in social doctrine.

Reagan really f*^ked us and his argument is prolonged by supporters who have captured the media.

We could easily afford this.

$876 a month is about 10 grand a year per person.

Our per capita money income is about 30 grand a year per person.

So why shouldn't the poorest have 1/3 of the average?

The reason it's opposed of course is that a handful of people are getting hundreds or even thousands of times the average and they don't want to redistribute a nickel of what they have. However most billionaires have made their fortunes screwing the working class. Either by underpaying them, over charging them, or just plain scamming them with schemes like the subprime debacle.

There has been a massive theft of wealth by the 1% over the past 30-40 years and it needs to be reversed.
