GOP Poisons Flint Michigan

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/...p_ref=politics

Republican Governor took control of the city, and his appointed Supervisor disconnected the supply from Lake Erie and started using water from the Flint River without making the appropriate modifications that are necessary when using river water, resulting in lead soldering to corrode and enter the city's water.

All to save money. This is what happens when you let a Republican Governor have the power to override local governments in an extreme manner. He should be impeached for this.
The people of Flint did not make this decision. It was forced on them.

A GM plant had to truck in water because the river sourced water was damaging their production of engine parts.

Yeah, that story has been circulating on "alternative media" for several months. Republicans and Libertarians disgust me.

Yep, this is what happens when you let stingy ignoramuses run things........cut, cut, cut, cut..................without a whit of concern for consequences. All that matters to these people is stuffing their own pockets with tax cut money.

When I think of the fiscal policies of the far right, it brings to mind some maintenance managers I've worked with. They decide they're spending too much money on machine parts..........

So, rather than do the hard work and figure out why they use so much in the first place, they simply stop buying them. Then when they end up spending huge money to overnight a $500 part, they demand to know who's responsible and how this could have been prevented.

Their costs double or triple, downtime rises, efficiency goes down the toilet..... But, it can't have anything to do with them or the way they do things.

I've seen the same sort of thing. A supply company put in a 'repackage from bulk' operation that required maybe 50K worth of equipment. Small scale stuff, but it took them months to get it going, and they had no budget for maintenance. When something broke, they had to scramble every time for money. Then when something a little pricy broke, they couldn't get the money to fix it. "Capital expenses are frozen." Basically, they never got it going again. Junked the whole investment.

I blamed it on 'a supply company trying to do a manufacturing-type operation.' Sad to hear that guys who are flat-out manufacturers are just as stupid.

Avoid downtime. Stock critical parts. You wouldn't think that would be such an obscure concept....

It's easy to criticize Flint's water woes. What would you have done to prevent them and still do today? And while you are at it, use your real name like Ross Perot did. And I do.

I am Ed Bacon.

Sorry, if you want to risk a visit from some Internet crazy you can. I'll try to avoid. I've seen some crazy here and there, too.

You spend the money, or you turn off the water and tell everyone to go away, I guess. But you don't ignore a lead poisoning thing.

Bob-a-Doobie here , It's called the Clean Water Act and a myriad of state laws that says you can't poison the people, Ed.

Fr*#k Gov. Snyder and the mule he rode in on with no lube.

Understood. That is new thought that is still on trial.

Old thought has a simple solution and I stand behind it. We should live closer to each other. Living close requires fewer pipes and reduced maintenance costs. An added benefit might be that we hang out together instead of on the internet.
