I still miss DDT.

Never needed a pest control contract when DDT was being sprayed in the fields.

I'm entering the seventh spring at my urban homestead. I've never put anything on my land and ceased any activity other than keeping in code, removing plants I don't want and keeping the branch threat at bay. Our code inspector likes my landscaping concept of a north central Texas meadow. I had a firefly crop last spring and have my fingers crossed for the spring that is upon us.

That's the way to do it. Getting rid of what you don't want by hand is monotonous, but once done it's pretty effective.

I've a fairly old Pecan that was recently trimmed back from the roof. Pretty sure it will live.

I would like to see more understory stuff like berries, but I'm a snob.
