Wind turbine overspeed failure.

Probably old stuffff.
I'm assuming a problem with blade pitch control &/or braking combined with very high winds; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sbCs7ZQDKoM

Saw a few other spectacular failure pix on the net, bearings fail, other stuff happens. Large scale wind power is a learning curve, we have more experience with hydro.

Why don't they just set those things up to feather the blades when they go into over speed? I'd rather shut it down than let it suffer a blade separation.

I think the blades reversed direction too often over too short a period.
