Heat In The East
How are you Eastern folks handling the current heat wave? I've heard 100 plus temperatures, high humidity, and power outages. I hope you are all alright. Good luck!

Thinking about my family back east, I decided to see what the weather was like where one of my daughters lives. It's the same, more or less, with temperatures flirting with 100 F but the humidity is only around 40%.
She lives in Italy.
In the freakin' Alps!
My other daughter in New Mexico is experiencing temps above 100 with humidity under 10%. Killer weather.
Global warming is such a crock!
(Except here it's about 75 with 60% humidity. )

We hit 105 with about 70% humidity yesterday. The storm blew through last night and pushed the temp down some, but humidity rose a little. Never lost power.
I've been inside all day, watching movies, spinning tunes and rolling tubes. The Cetron 7236 came in yesterday. More detailed and not as rounded off at the top than the GE 6AS7G and RCA 6080, but not as "warm" either......almost "transistor like", (Heaven forbid.). Still haven't received the Mullard 6080 tube yet. Supposed to be here by July 7th, now. According to the seller, whom I didn't realize, when I made the purchase, is in Crete.
Anyhow, I'ma put the big GE tube back in and let it warm up while I run some errands and walk Sadie. Then it'll be time to pop a Fat Tire and spin some more tunes.

Sounds like a real mess back there. I bet Rob is real happy to have his newish generator with an electric starter.

Hope all are well East of me. Been hearing about the mess and boy it gotta suck!
I'm not quite on the east coast. Just outside of Louisville to the north 9 miles. Been in the 100's for the last four days with 71% humidity. In a drought it would seem also, no rain to speak of at my house for over three weeks.
But as of now still have power unlike those on the coast.

There is one hell of a lightning show going on just north of me. Over Casa del Dave? A clear, starry sky---so far.

Oddly enough I slept through the storm, Florence said I was snoring away happily. Woke up at 4:00 AM realizing we had no power. So come 6:00 AM I got dressed and went down to feed the kitties, both were dry.
Then I backed both cars out and hauled the generator to the garage doorway, hooked up the propane and the transfer switch. Electric start is nice especially with propane so with it running I went to the basement and switched over the protected circuits. Went back upstairs and made coffee. Opened the greenhouse and carriage house and bringing my third cuppa with me got out the golf cart. Picked up the worst of the fallen branches from the front lawn and driveway. Hauled that lot down backd where we dumpeaves, etc.
Basically filling in a gulley where all the "hunters" tossed their beer bottles back when this was still a farm. Lots of large braoches down here from the black walnuts. Fortunatelly none hit the barn roof. More later

SO after the branch cleanup I surveyed th exterior of the house and could not see any damage whatsoever.
This house has 2 x 6 exterior walls with insulation to match so the interior temperature did not rise too quickley. Did some reading in the morning and in the afternoon and evening we watched DVDs - British Comedy. Florence prepared a simple dinner on an electric hotplate and we continued watching. At 8:00 PM we saw the desk lamp in the office come on - not a protected circuit so a good sign the power was back (we had previously been told 2 or 3 days). The cable box and router booted themselves so I put all circuits back on commercial power and shut down the generator. Rolled it back into its corner, put away the cars and shut the garage.
We caught the end of Masterpiece Theatre and As Time Goes By, by then it was 9:30 PM and the house was cooling down from the 79 degree high, so we went to bed.
Heard a thump about 3:30 AM on the deck, this morning we found the boy's head had been deliberatly broken of on the little fountain. Guess someone was prowling about, as the news kept talking abou hotels with rooms available. Perfect opportunity for some prowler to do break ins. Except I guess he saw the alarm company decal and heard the A/C startup and realized the house was occupied. So he then perpetrated his small fit of destruction. I re-attached the head with JB Weld - all I had on hand. The fountain consists of a base which then holds a sea shell basin. The boy is kneeling on the back of a turtle and a small immersible pump sits under the turtle. Water flows from the turtle's beak into the basin. Tonight I guess we will leave the deck light on all night. Sme people, wish I had been downstairs he would have had a backside fulll of 6mm pellets.
