The last song on the Whole Love is probably their best song ever.

It is great. I saw them this summer (along with Dylan and My Morning Jacket) and they were absolutely great. One of the best sets of music I've seen in 20 years.

Jim James is great too....he really needs a breakout into the mainstream. His voice is so good people do not know what they are missing.

They were also excellent. Dylan, by far my favorite artist, was just OK. He had a fine band, but his recent music has a certain swamp-boogie sound that doesn't appeal to me like his good, old stuff.

I saw Bob in Costa Mesa and Carlsbad in 1988.....G.E. Smith was in the band.
I saw him again in 2006.....of course his voice was not as good () as before but at the Forum he had some good moments.

I know you do not like is later stuff but Love and Theft from 2001 is great.
Modern Times from 2006 does have some very good songs with a great back up band. I admit that his voice is rough on Tempest. I do like the Titanic song however.

Enjoyed the Decemberists right off the bat, Wilco might need a couple more listens.

I really like the Decemberists too, but they haven't been touring much at all in the past couple of years. The gal who plays keyboards/accordion has cancer, I believe. Colin Meloy, the band's leader and vocalist, is touring solo this Fall/Winter though. The King is Dead is a great album.
