If you really want a great drama I suggest you listen to Game Of Thrones on audiobook.
The narrator is a British actor named Roy Dotrice (now in his 90s) who acts out the novels by giving the characters voice inflections and accents...it is like listening to a radio drama. It is unabridged. If I am in the car sometime I forget the exit if I'm on the highway.

One or two of the volumes have a different narrator who just reads the text...they say he is not as good as Dotrice.
Dotrice has done all five books so if you start try to get him.

This Martin guy is probably as good as Tolkien, if not better. I do not recall enjoying Lord Of The Rings this much when I read it in the 1970s.

Dotrice also had a recurring role in the early parts of the HBO series. He played a "pyromancer" who produces a weapon reminiscent of Greek fire which helped the city of King's Landing repel an invasion by sea.

Mere Christianity by C. S. Lewis with his Surprised by Joy waiting in the wings. May need to go back to the beginning as I had set it aside during Florence's illness and subsequent passing.

I just got done reading the book written by the mother of one of the columbine killers.

It was a hard book to read for many reasons.

Barbara,

Why was it hard? That is an honest question.

When I reflect on Columbine I hear Marilyn Manson asking why the shooters felt so lonely. That is paraphrasing. What is important is the confrontation between Marilyn and the media. The media asked Marilyn what he would have done different prior to Columbine.

He said that he would have talked to the frustrated shooters.

Insulated thinkers will think that Marilyn gave the safe answer. They can regrade themselves as they want to benefit from President Obama's negotiations with Cuba.

My lawn Nazi mind hopes that good comes of it.

When columbine happened I was one of those that asked why the parents didn't know what was going on with these kids. As a parent of boys, I was very judgmental.

But, reading this mother's words, hearing her anguish, gave me a different understanding.

And, having raised two boys, I wondered how a person could deal with her own child doing such a horrific thing.

Fathers are usually harder...less sentimental, more objective.

That is why lawyers love mothers.

Stereotypes certainly seem to be your thing.
