Nunes echoes Trump’s authoritarian view on press, says Stephen Colbert’s skit about him is a ‘danger’ to the country
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...o-the-country/
“Devin Nunes is a REDACTED,” says a memo Colbert circulated on Capitol Hill, asking Democratic and Republican members of Congress to fill in the blank.
“I think this is the danger we have in this country,” Nunes told host Neil Cavuto on Saturday in response. “This is an example of it.”
Except, two things:
1. We live in a free-speech society, and
2. Colbert is a comedian.
Unlike journalists, Colbert has no obligation to report the facts, or even be unbiased. His job is to make people laugh, not be fair to politicians. Through the First Amendment, this country's founders allowed Colbert to make fun of whichever powerful person he wants to without fear of retribution from that person.

Here is Ted Cruz sticking his foot in his mouth again after it was declared that he will be running against Democratic candidate Robert 'Beto' O'Rourke. Apparently Berto is a nickname given to him by his parents from the day he was born. So the idiot Cruz released a radio ad mocking O'Rourke's nickname. But guess what.
How the heck do you get Ted from Rafael Edward Cruz?
Not Rafa and not Ed but Ted.
What a jerk.

Based just on the few pics I’ve seen, Beto has a sort of Tom Petty vibe. Cruz has a pile of dog poop vibe.

Johnson's comment came in response to a question about whether the minimum age for purchasing a gun should be raised from 18 to 21.

Guess he could not memorize the NRA talking points.

LEWISTON, Maine (AP) — A Republican Maine House candidate has used Twitter to attack two students who survived a shooting at a Florida high school, calling one of them a "skinhead lesbian" and the other a "bald-faced liar."

Jeff Flake: "If we are going to cloister ourselves in the alternative truth of an erratic leader, if we are going to refuse to live in a world that everyone else lives in ... then my party might not deserve to lead," the Arizona senator said in a speech at the National Press Club.
An honest man.

So why didn't Flake vote to stop the tax cut?

Bigger question is if the Dem's take control of both houses, will they attempt to roll back the tax cuts? I would not bet on it.
