I'm just waiting for some wiseacre to make a snarky comment about PrezBo's kids-and see the Shyte Storm that follows. Funny how Palin's kids are apparently fair game...Jenna & Barbara Bush caught a fair amount of flak, but Chelsea was Off-Limits, too. OK, so PresBo's kids ARE too young, & so was Chelsea, but ALL the kids oughta be Off-Limits.

Letterman is a no class cocksucker (IMHO). As for Palin, I actually voted for her in the presidential race. I vowed that I wouldn't vote for any man who voted yes for the first bailout. I didn't want to stay home or vote for Obama, so she was the obvious choice.

And you are certainly entitled to that opinion but consider that Letterman's joke is a stereotype that plays upon the sexuality of Sarah Palin's looks and the behavior of her children. He was parodying the Palin clan. Did he take it too far?, yes. However, he could not say these things about her or her family with any degree of credibility if there didn't already exist an atmosphere in the media that reinforces some truthfulness about the Palin clan's behavior--relative to the jokes that were made. That's why people laughed. If he had said the same things about Michelle Obama, the Obama daughters or Hillary & Chelsea; people wouldn't laugh at it. Because there isn't any behavior in their lives to be parodied, that would make the joke funny.

"You know why Chelsea Clinton's so ugly? It's because Janet Reno is her father." Senator John McCain
McCain, to his credit, did apologize for his joke. And I don't think his joke was ever meant to go public.
Letterman is a hateful prick. No wonder he never got The Tonight Show. Jay Leno, or Johnny Carson he ain't.

As to the OP...
I voted, and I'm not looking back. Anything is better than Bush-Cheney--they should be tried for war crimes and thrown in the slammer. Considering the crappy hand that Obama was dealt, I'd say that things are going well. Change, real change hurts, and it isn't going to be easy, and I wouldn't mind one bit if I paid some more taxes for good programs.
Healthcare needs to be fixed. If we hadn't made at least three adjustments in coverage and deductibles in the last 8 years the cost of our health insurance would now exceed our mortgage payment--that's just plain unacceptable. Our insurance is now at $5K deductible and we only have major medical--hospitalization, no other coverage. At some point we will be paying for coverage with unlimited deductible and no benefits..."protection money"--essentially highway robbery...the system MUST change and the insurance lobby needs to get out of the way.
I think that there should be a NATIONAL minimal major medical coverage for catastrophic hospitalization...if you want more, buy more "reinsurance" privately. That's my system, and everyone would benefit.

Considering the mutterings coming from the Hill I sincerely doubt that we will see any reformation. Why would Congress reform healt care, they have a beautiful plan - at our expense, sometimes referred to as CheneyCare.
