State of the Onion
Anyone watching this? I'm really anxious to see it, I hope it has some real substance and is not just a campaign speech. The Republicans are already criticizing it for that. I hope it's at least better than the debate I slept through last night.

Yep, I'll be watching.
From what I ear, most slept thout the debate last night. One can only listen to the same old dried up shit so many times.
I liked Newts comment about the pipeline creating, what was it, "incredible amounts of jobs" or something like that? Dude, it's a pipe that connects existing oil fields with existing refineries. Once it's in place you layoff the construction crew and that's it...........Not really all that many jobs created. Not long term anyhow. It should be built, IMO. But, I don't see that doing so is going to have the economy rescuing impact that fathead has conservatives believing it will.

Well, we either build the pipe line and get some oil from Canada, or they ship it to China by tanker, and we ship ours from "over there" by tankers. You would think the tree huggers would be all over it. The safest way known to man to move oil are American Union Built pipe lines. It may not have been enough jobs to solve our problems, but it was enough jobs to cost ears a lot of Union votes if he doesn't get his shit together. The good ol' Union boys had problems enough voting for him, all they need is an excuse to pull the Rep. lever. BTW, I was just hackin on ya about your hound. I'd say it's a fine lookin hound.

Really, Jay. You think the GOP wants to use "Union Labor" to do anything?
I'd almost be willing to bet that part of the behind the closed doors argument is over which contractors to use.....................

No way that line gets built by non-union labor, no way at all. I can't think of a non union contractor around here that could even bid on it. That's Union work even in right work states, trust me.
Is this website slow tonight, or is it me?

Yup, you have to be a member of one of those OK unions just to work on pipelines as I remember. Even all the AK guys are members of the OK unions iirc.

One that no longer has any members.
Sorry, but I couldn't resist.

"It should be built, IMO."
And, I can't think of anything that would grate the GOP more than allowing (What they see as...) Marxist hands to touch that pipeline, or anything else. They'll find a way.
Remember the fight over which contractors got the cleanup/rebuilding contracts after Katrina? The GOP wanted to suspend Davis-Bacon? That was all over excluding union labor, or even paying union scale to non-union labor and nothing else.
And, Thank you! Yes, she is a great dog.
BTW. It's not just you, we are in creep mode.
