Last night: Rhonda Vincent and the Rage and Asleep at the Wheel in Springfield MO. It's hard to believe that Asleep at the Wheel has been at it for 46 years, except to note that they are the consummate pros as musicians and entertainers. Rhonda Vincent has a brilliant voice, but I reach my limit in appreciating Bluegrass after about an hour. But I enjoyed every minute of Asleep's two hour set.
The venue was also perfect. It is a well-restored art deco theater that seats around 1000. At the show, another couple asked us to trade seats so that they could sit next to their in-laws - which moved us up to the eighth row. Quite a night. I might have to go down there to catch Lyle Lovett in October

 This is a really good album. Beck and Bones are part of a group. It is pretty heavy.

I heard Amos Lee sing "I hear ya taling" with Asleep at the Wheel on Austin City Limits, I was impressed with his voice. I now see that he is coming to Kansas City, so I am sampling some of his work on Youtube to decide whether to get tickets. So far is sounds like a go.

Loud Hailer sounds like Jeff Beck has become 30 year younger. The women from Bones add around a thousand volts of energy to the album.
